			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While The Malimbe Network has been operating informally for several years, in the last week we have taken two important steps towards becoming something bigger.</p>
<p>The Malimbe Network is now an official Non profit Corporation in the State of Washington. We have not applied for 501(c)(3) status yet but will probably look into this sometime next year.</p>
<p>Even more exciting is we received our first contribution from a new donor. This money is going to support the CDSL in Guatemala, specifically to provide funds for seeds and fertilizer to a group of families planting <a title="Guicoy Image" href="http://www.maya-archaeology.org/pre-Columbian_Mesoamerican_Mayan_ethnobotany_Mayan_iconography_archaeology_anthropology_research/Guicoy_petate_FLAAR_2.jpg" target="_blank">Güicoy</a>, which is a variety of squash.</p>
